Summary: The Events of Friday 11th

Yesterday was quite a milestone day for me, as it was for many others. Yes, it was of course the launch date of the iPhone 3G in most countries worldwide. However, it was also quite a big day for me in another sense. A sense that could potentially depress my day considerably.

Private Browsing Thats Not So Private

It was brought to my attention recently (via MacFormat Magazine) that my almost favourite browser from Apple, Safari, doesn’t quite have the private mode that it claims to. One of mine and many other users’ favourite feature in the new version of Safari is its so-called ‘Private Browsing’ option, which is meant to be a quick and easy way to stop your browsing history, temporary files, cookies and all other private goodies from being saved. Well, maybe not all other..

The Great Big Download

Mozilla Firefox. Its one of the world’s most popular web browsers, and is hugely successful. Firefox is the open-source powerhouse that, well.. IS the Internet! It is fairly fast, clean, simple to use and has the biggest collection of addons and plug-ins I have ever seen, so that every user can be individual and customize their browser to match their needs. Well now.. its getting even better. And Mozilla is asking for our help.

The User-Always-Wins War

This is just about the only war in technology where the users always win, and where the ‘winner’ is always down to decision. It is, of course, that of PC versus Mac. So, here is a compilation of my favourite videos on the internet making this topic even funnier by the day, and really opening peoples eyes as to what the two different platforms are really intended to do. [plus important message]

How To: Check Your Broadband Speed

You may be getting conned. Thats right - conned. By some of the biggest companies there are today - especially if you are in the U.K! Yes, I’m talking about internet speed, or more specifically, broadband speed. Many companies these days (especially if they offer ADSL service, as other factors can affect internet speed) say that you’ll get ‘up to’ a certain speed, but never guarantee they will. And only a fraction of people ever even get close to their little ‘up to’ speed.

People Really Hate AOL, Huh?!

I was searching for something the other day that began with the word ‘cancel’, although I can’t remember exactly what it was I was searching for, when I noticed something in my auto-complete plug-in. I use the Safari browser at the moment, and also use the Inquisitor plug-in to make my searches ultra-efficient and display guesses on what I’m searching for. Well, it wasn’t this.. Read on for screenshot.

I Need Your Buying Help

For a while, pretty much since I got my MacBook, I have wanted to purchase as many accessories for it as I can afford. I haven’t done bad so far with my Apple Mighty Mouse (which I still need to write a review on), Be.ez laptop sleeve and an Apple Mini-DVI to VGA adapter for my 20-inch HDTV. This means there is only a few to go until I am satisfied, but I need some serious purchasing help from people in the know.

Okay, So I Do Want Some Air

Yes, I am fully aware that I have only just recieved my first ever Mac, a shiny white MacBook, and I am also aware that I made a statement in a post not too long ago saying that I didn’t want a MacBook Air. Well, now I do. Sort of.
